What Is It?

Aware Central Texas Project Silhouette is an exhibit of life-sized silhouettes whose purpose is to represent those Central Texan's who have been the victim of domestic violence or who have died tragically at the hands of an intimate partner.

The purpose of the project is threefold:

  • REMEMBER those killed by a spouse/partner, ex-spouse/partner or intimate acquaintance.

  • CREATE AWARENESS of the risk factors for intimate partner violence and domestic homicide

  • PROMOTE ACTION to end violence against women

Each life-sized black silhouette represents someone in our community who has suffered from domestic violence or was the victim of domestic violence homicide.

These silhouettes tell their stories, honor their lives, and provide a collective voice in order to create awareness and prevent future domestic violence homicide.
